The Spokesperson for Provincial SAPS, Mathe confirmed that an undisclosed amount of money was taken by the men who randomly attack the SBV Security guards just before they were about to load cash.
The incident took place at around 11am this morning and the Police Commisioner General Khehla Sithole has condemned the attack on innocent bystanders.
The Deputy Chairperson For Diepkloof CPF, Zenzi Tshabalala who was around the area when the incident took place mentioned that they alerted the Police in Diepkloof as soon as they heard gun shots and she said;
“We urge the people to always take cover whenever such robberies happen to avoid stray bullets.”

Just in – Soweto Urban understands that there was a cash-in-transit heist at Bara Taxi Rank earlier today. Our Diepkloof reporter is on the scene capturing the episode. All roads have been closed leading into Bara. It is reported that the syndicate made off with an undisclosed ammount of cash.
We have been trying to get comment from the Gauteng Provincial Police but have not been fortunate. We are currently working on acquiring further details regarding this devastating incident where a 42-year-old got injured during the robbery.
According to a report released by ER24 communication officer Russel Meiring, a 42-year-old man was left seriously injured this morning when he was shot during a cash-in-transit heist on Chris Hani Road in Soweto.
ER24 personnel, along with another service, arrived on the scene at 11h35 to find the local authorities already in attendance.
“A man was found lying on the pavement next to a taxi.
“Medics assessed the man and found that he had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper leg, leaving him in a serious condition.
“The man was treated for his injuries and provided with pain-relief medication before he was transported to a nearby hospital for further care.
The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
