Protea Glen house engulfed in flames
WATCH: Helpless neighbours in awe as fire destroys a home.
The community of Protea Glen extension four had a rude awakening as a house in the community caught fire this morning.
Neighbours noticed that the Khumalo family home was on fire at around 07:30 this morning. They quickly rushed to check if anyone was inside the house and began working to extinguish the fire.
The house was being solely occupied by Mongezi Khumalo who was at work when the fire was discovered.
The cause of the fire is still unknown at this stage, it is however suspected that a heater was left unattended.
The family is asking the community to help with donations of any household items that could help them while they try to rebuild their home.
