Boni 4 Kasi grooming Soweto young cyclists

Introducing cycling to Kasi.

Boni 4 Kasi is all about youth development and grooming the young ones and also introducing cycling to them and in our communities.

Lindo Dlamini is one of the members from Boni 4 Kasi which consists of children who are from different areas in Soweto.

Boni 4 Kasi has been in existence for years now and the cycling club has juniors and seniors who love it but the sad part is every individual has to buy his or her own bicycle as they wish to do more but financially they cannot help each child.

“One knows cycling is an expensive sport which it’s a challenge now and having so many young people who are keen and showing interest in the sports just makes it more exciting and also having two females that have joined us,” said Dlamini.

Boni 4 Kasi have entered so many competitions from 94.7 and other cycling competitions and having so many young people enjoying this shows that there is an improvement and we are getting somewhere as a black community.

“I have also donated two of my bikes to my team members as bicycles are expensive and we know our situations,” added Dlamini.

Dlamini added that even though they do not have funding at the moment one day they will be able to get assist or sponsor from someone or an organization.

Originally Dlamini is from Meadowlands zone 5 but he’s cycling team is based in Zola as he elaborated that in his community most clubs are into road cycling and he prefers mountain biking where he is cycling freely and without having to be disturbed by vehicles.

Boni 4 Kasi now has come back to the community of Meadowlands where they will be helping Rough Diamonds to start their own cycling club, teaching the children the basics of cycling, how a bicycle is assembled, rules they need to know.

Rough Diamonds is looking forward to starting this new programme as they believe that with time some would take up as a career or sport to follow in future.
