Police officer allegedly robbed at gunpoint

The spokesperson for Diepkloof SAPS, Captain Phephi Matlou-Mteto confirmed that an armed robbery case has been launched at the station.

Diepkloof SAPS has launched yet another man-hunt for three men who allegedly un-armed an off duty police officer and took off with his work pistol and other work particulars.

A case of armed robbery has been opened at the station after the police officer who was robbed at gunpoint alleged that while driving his personal car in Diepkloof just close to Funda Center, he had to stop after feeling something go through his car tyre.

The spokesperson for Diepkloof SAPS, Captain Phephi Matlou-Mteto confirmed that an armed robbery case has been launched at the station and that the person who was robbed this time was an officer of the law and that his work pistol was taken.

Matlou-Mteto said, “The three men, whom one was armed approached the officers’ personal car and the armed man pointed his gun straight to the officer who was asked to raise his hands and searched, and his work pistol and wallet with particulars were taken before the men took off around 9pm at night.”

One more gun is on the loose in the Diepkloof vicinity and people are warned to be aware of the increasing armed robbery rate and try to avoid is by all means.

Matlou-Mteto said, “The three men with one gun now have two and we cannot guarantee that they will stop robbing people, so we will not stop until we bring these people into justice to make sure that there are not guns unaccounted for.”
