Dobsonville residents protest after the killing of Kamokgelo Kgala (23)

Community seeks justice for Kgala.

The 23- year-old Kamokgelo Kgala was recently stabbed with the knife on the neck and killed at the notorious open space situated between Jabulani and Dobsonville Extension 2- the incident triggered concern about the growing murder cases taking place at the notorious open space.

Claudia Mokgatle aunt of the deceased said Kgala met his assailants when he was passing the open space heading to a nearby taxi rank. “We were made aware about the murder incident by a neighbour who came rushing to our house to report the incident to our family. It is strange that his assailants didn’t take his bag and his belongings. The incident took place on 12 June in the morning around 6am and deceased was only removed at 11:30 am,” said Mokgatle.

She said the family together with Dobsonville residents marched to the hot spot where Kgala was killed on June 17. The objective of the march was to raise awareness about rampant killing taking place in that crime hot spot between two townships.

“There are lot of criminal incidents taking place in this open space, recently a woman was raped, killed, left naked, wrapped inside the carpet and dumped on the very same open space. As if that was not enough, a decapitated body was found on the very same open space,” said Mokgatle.

According to Dobsonville police spokesperson Constable Mzwakhe Xazi, both Dobsonville and Jabulani Police Stations embarked on a joint operation to wipe out criminal activity taking place at the open space between Dobsonville and Jabulani.
