The Environmentorz keeping Eldorado Park clean

Ward Councillor Peter Rafferty urges residents to maintain the area.

Eldos’ very own environmental organisation, the Environmentorz, is serious about keeping Eldorado Park clean all year round.

The Non Profit Organisation aims to educate both young and old about the importance of a clean environment.

The Environmentorz has also been very passionate about food gardens and aims to create cleaner spaces where vegetable gardens can be created in order to sustain the residents living within the community.

“We, the Environmentorz, together with Shoprite and Trees for Africa would like to invite the Eldorado Park community to join us for training on developing their own food gardens,” said Brynmor Coolman, who is the project coordinator.

“The idea is to assist residents and teach them the do’s and dont’s about food gardens. The aim is to promote food security and self-sustainabilty. We will be in the newly created park in Diamant Street on June 22, at 9am and we encourage everyone to join us,” he added.

Joburg Mayor Herman Mashaba, his team and Eldorado Park residents cleaned the open space in Diamant Street a few weeks ago in hopes to create a safer space for residents. Residents in the area have complained about illegal dumping and said that the open veld was used for all the wrong purposes.

Ward Councillor Peter Rafferty said that he urges residents to maintain the area. The Environmentorz have taken it upon themselves to create and sustain the food garden in the newly created park.
