Eldorado Park Taxi Association to transport Residents at the Old Age Village for free

Eldorado Park senior citizens can finally breathe a sigh of relief

Residents at the Old Age Village in Eldorado Park Extension Three can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the Eldorado Park taxi association has decided to offer transportation service in hopes that it will make the lives of residents at the village a little easier.

Garwin Doll from the Eldorado Park taxi association said that the taxi association offered this service in the past but because the vehicle of the driver who did this previously broke down, the service stopped.

“We are fully onboard and if I am being honest, we were never off the board, there has just been miscommunication between the old age village and ourselves but all of that is sorted now,” said Doll.

“Residents at the old age village have raised their concerns and that brought us to where are we are now. I commend them for taking on the initiative,” he added.

Sylvia Zacharias, who is a resident at the old age village said the reason why she took this up with the taxi association was because the elderly are not as mobile as they used to be.

“We are literally in the last street of Extension Three so the commute to the Main Road and Shoprite is extremely tiresome.

“We are at an age where we simply cannot walk long distances anymore so I am grateful that our request has been heard,” said another resident, Cynthia Smith.

The taxi association has committed to providing transport to residents free of charge on pension days.

“The service will be from the village in Extension to Shoprite and back. Residents agreed that they wanted the service every Tuesday and Friday, but those trips will be charged the local fee of R8,” Doll concluded.
