Tswelelang Primary School in Meadowlands obtained position three at the District Netball tournament

Tswelelang Primary brings it home.

Tswelelang Primary School in Meadowlands Zone 1 managed to obtain position three in the District Netball tournament that was played in Soweto.

Their coach and co-odinatorNomsa Malindi-Zwane and Thandi Mtambo who works at the school said they received an invitation from the District about the tournament.

The school doesn’t have the proper Netball facilities but through their hard work and dedication towards the sport they had to mark up imaginary lines where children will follow.

They first had to compete with schools in Meadowlands of which they got position one and also had the chance to play with other teams at Snakepark.

This is the second time the school has been taking part in the tournament.

Coach Mtambo said then they didn’t have a netball team they gave every learner an opportunity to take part in the sport of which now they have seen that there is talent and also the children are now inlove with the sport.

Mtambo has been very dedicated towards the sport and also when she is not coaching at school she has a team that she is training in Zone 11.

“When you love something, giving up becomes a last option,” said Mtambo.

The team always trains in the morning before classes commence and also during lunch after every learner has had their lunch then they continue with training.

Netball coordinator Malindi-Zwane stated that the grounds are still not in a good condition and that through the help of the school members they assisted them in cleaning the dump that was there so that they are able to train there while they were preparing themselves for the tournament.

The school principal Jonas Mphehlo is very grateful that the school is on the map and that even though they don’t have the right facilities their children and the support of parents and SGB members has been amazing.
