‘Child Road Safety Week was a success’

Stakeholders ended Child Road safety Week with an awareness walk to the police station.

June 7, marked the end of Child Road Safety Week. The Eldorado Park Traffic Solutions Team, together with the Eldorado Park Local Action Committee, Department of Community Safety, Emergency Management Services, Eldorado Park SAPS, JMPD and the Gonaqua First Nation Authority, a Khoisan movement, demonstrated an awareness activation on the corner of the Golden Highway and Main Road.

With the activation starting as early as 9 am, the various stakeholders interacted with motorists and encouraged them to take road safety seriously. Road safety pamphlets were given to motorists.

Dineo Maseko from the Department of Community Safety said she was proud of the various stakeholders who made the week long activation possible.

“This community feels like home. It is so inspiring to see how everyone works together, it was a successful week of campaigning,” said Maseko.

“Eldorado Park, we are here and we are a force to be reckoned with. Our community is more than just drugs, we are here producing goodness.

“I am especially proud of Florida Primary School learners, they have been so committed,” said Michelle Gardner, the founder of the Eldorado Park Traffic Solutions.

The various stakeholders together with the learners from Florida Primary School and residents from the Harvey Cohen Centre walked to the Eldorado Park police where a pledge was signed.
