The Fundraising and Reunion Concert done in memory of the late Mpho Moshoeshoe did more than impress the audience which was made up of parents, guardians, friends and families, but also took their breaths away.

Khothatso Mantu who was one of the organisers for the annual fundraising concert explained that African Youth Ensemble (AYE) annually hosts fundraisers and that with this fundraising concert, the memory of the late Mpho Moshoeshoe was being honoured while Kolwane Mantu aka Bra K, the founder was also being honoured for his teachings and dedication over the years.

AYE’s learners from back in the days went to the annual ceremony as well to express gratitude to Bra K, like Olga Maraba who mentioned how her child, Kamogelo Maraba now plays the cello in the same group she learned to play the violin in.

Maraba said, “Today we would like to thank our music teacher and guide for being there to teach us music so devotedly, not only was he there for us, but he is now also there for our children too.”

Bra K was also present at the Diepkloof Community Hall where he also played a piece with his old learners on May 18 to dazzle the audience.

Katlego Taunyane, also plays the violin and he also used to play for AYE, he took part in the piece Bra K played with his old students, he also said, “No words could even begin to describe our gratitude for Bra K who was patient with us when we started a long time ago, but now we are professionals who can play with any band in the country because of Bra K’s teachings and lessons.”

The community hall burst in song and the concert was highly attended by families and friends who just couldn’t wait to see their own children play their instruments in ensembles.
