JUST IN: Mabuza postpones swearing in into the National Assembly

The ANC commends Deputy President Mabuza for the stance he has taken.

In a statement issued by President Cyril Ramaphosa’s today, it is indicates that the African National Congress has received and agreed to a request by the party’s Deputy President, David Mabuza to postpone his swearing in as a member of the National Assembly that was scheduled for Wednesday, May 22nd.

Mabuza made this request for postponement following a surge of reports by the ANC Integrity Commission in which he is alleged to have prejudiced the integrity of the ANC and brought the organisation into disgrace.

Following this report by the party’s Integrity Commission, Mabuza has then indicated he would like to have an opportunity to address the commission with his side of the story on these allegations.



“In the meantime, he has decided nevertheless to follow the dictates of his conscience and postponed his swearing in as a member of the National Assembly out of respect of for the ANC’s institutions and process.

The ANC commends Deputy President Mabuza for the stance he has taken and I personally applaud his resolve to put the interests of the ANC first” said President Ramaphosa on the issued statement.

People also applauded Deputy President Mabuza on Twitter for his potsponent, echoing that he is leading by example.
