Help little Teygon get a wheelchair

The family will have a food stall at the next Eldos market on June 1 as an initiative to raise funds.

Teygon Enola Scholtz, a two-year-old from Eldorado Park Extension One has recently been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy (CP), a congenital disorder that affects body movement and muscle coordination.

Claudelle Scholtz, who is Teygon’s mother, said that a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) was done in May last year. “The MRI confirmed that Teygon has CP, it hasn’t been an easy journey,” said Scholtz.

“I had a healthy pregnancy, no problems, I went into labour and had to have an emergency c-section.

“I woke up in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and I was told that my baby was fighting for her life in ICU.

“She was in ICU for four months and afterwards we’ve been in the hospital almost every month because Teygon suffers from multiple seizures, unfortunately, all her limbs are affected, ” she added.

The single mother said that her family and close friends have been very supportive.

“We have been selling Vetkoek and mince as well as roti and curry every Friday in hopes to raise enough funds for a wheelchair,” said Scholtz.

“Tey is a sweet baby, she’s in her own world most of the times but she always surprises us. She is so young but she is already a fighter,” she added.

Teygon’s family and close friends will have a food stall at the Eldorado Park market day, which will be held on June 1 on the corner of Main Road and Mahonie Street.

Chicken curry and Roti will be R15 and Vetkoek and mince will be R10. If anyone would like to make a donation towards the wheelchair fundraising initiative contact Chris for more information on 073 522 7572.
