Eldorado Park family robbed of the opportunity to unveil their loved ones’ graves

According to Brown, the family approached Galaxy Memorial Judy Tombstones (GMJT) in September 2017 hoping that their loved ones would receive beautiful tombstones and a dignified unveiling ceremony.

A family in Eldorado Park is struggling to find peace or coming to terms with the loss of their two loved ones.

According to the Brown family, who lost their father in 2006 and brother in 2013, they have been robbed of the opportunity to unveil the graves of their loved ones buried at the Eldorado Park Cemetery in Klipspruit West Extension One.

Yolanda Brown, who is the wife and mother of both the deceased, opened up about the pain she has been feeling for several years.

According to Brown, the family approached Galaxy Memorial Judy Tombstones (GMJT) in September 2017 hoping that their loved ones would receive beautiful tombstones and a dignified unveiling ceremony.

The family made an initial deposit of R5000.00 upfront and paid the remaining balance of R3600.00 five months later, in February 2018.

According to Brown, the tombstones were only erected at the beginning of this year.

“When we visited the gravesite we saw that one of the tombstones was completely damaged and destroyed. The other gravestone is incomplete,” said Brown.

“We then approached Galaxy Memorial Judy Tombstones but to this day nothing has been done. We cannot get a hold of them, it is as if they disappeared. Two years later and the graves still have not been unveiled, it hurts me deeply,” Brown added.

According to an online article published Sep 29, 2016, on the Daily Sun website, Vuyelwa Motsomi from Kagiso in Gauteng bought a tombstone for her late husband at Galaxy Memorials.

She spent R19 500 on the tombstone. Vuyelwa was not satisfied after the tombstone was built and she demanded a refund from GMJT.

When trying to contact GMJT, the numbers provided no longer exists.

An online contact information sheet shows that GMJT claims to have branches in, Alberton, Benoni, Germiston, Johannesburg, Kempton Park, Krugersdorp, Springs and Roodepoort.
