The Soweto Flying Squad recevied information about a suspect that is wanted for 5 attempted muder and 4 murder cases in Meadowlands.
According to the Meadowlands Police spokesperson Sergent Octavia Thebe upon receiving a tip off that the suspect resides at Dube Hostel and was seen in Orlando next to Caltex Garage, the squad proceeded to where he was at Caltex garage, corner Ndlovu and Phela Road, Orlando West.
The suspect ran towards the Dube Hostel when he saw the police.
A shootout took place between the police and the suspect after the suspect pulled out an unlicensed firearm.
A bystander sustained an in injury following a shootout and the suspect was also shot and sustained injuries on his buttocks.
Both the suspect and the bystander were taken to hospital for treatment.
