Ubers drivers allegedly robbed in Diepkloof Extension

"More Uber drivers have been tricked into being robbed around Diepkloof" - Captain Phephi Matlou-Mteto

The police from Diepkloof have been toiling and searching carefully for the people who trick Uber drivers into robberies around Diepkloof.

Three more cases of robbery have been opened at the Diepkloof SAPS after all three victims have reported at the station that after an Uber was requested by a man who calls himself Sello, they have been robbed at gunpoint.

The communications officer for Diepkloof SAPS, Captain Phephi Matlou-Mteto explained that more Uber drivers have been tricked into being robbed around Diepkloof.

Matlou-Mteto said, “More cases have been opened at the station by Uber drivers who have stated on oath that while they were given an impression that they were going to pick up a client, they got robbed at gun point from their work resources and personal belongings.”

The person who requests the Ubers under the moniker Sello gets in the car and pulls out the gun before being joined by his accomplices for the robberies.

Ubers drivers were tricked and robbed at day light around Diepkloof Extension and Diepkloof Zone Four, however, Captain Matlou-Mteto said, “We are urging all the Uber drivers to be aware of these robberies that take place around Diepkloof and to try by all means to avoid being robbed further.”

The number of robbed Ubers keeps going up and the police’s concern keeps growing because these robberies are happening at gun point.

Matlou-Mteto said, “At this point we suspect that these robberies are being conducted by the same people we have been looking for.”

Any person who may have a lead for the police on the case can call 079 890 7087.
