Two Zama zamas found dead between Braamfischerville Phase 2 and Durban Deep

"No arrests have been made, but investigations continue," - Constable Mzwakhe Xazi.

Police were called to a crime scene between Braamfischerville Phase 2 and Durban Deep open space where allegedly two illegal miners were found dead.

According to Dobsonville police spokesperson Constable Mzwakhe Xazi, police were called to a crime scene by the residents who were shocked to see the bodies of two men in their early twenties in an open space.

“Their bodies were found about 500 metres apart of each other with bullets wounds in the bodies and head.

“Our preliminary investigation reveals that the murders might have occurred at around 9:30 am on Thursday,” said Constable Xazi.



He said they suspect that the two deceased were illegal miners because of the clothing they were wearing at the time they were killed.

Constable Xazi added that they would not rule out that their deaths might be linked to illegal miners fight for mining territory.

“No arrests have been made, but investigations continue.

“We urge people with the information to please come forward fast-track the arrest of the suspects,” said Constable Xazi.


In a seperate incident, Dobsonville police officers arrested a female suspect for dealing in dagga at Braamfischerville.

“The female dagga dealer suspect is 31-years- old.

“She was found in possession of 8 packets of marijuana and was taken into police custody.

“The suspect will soon appear before the Roodepoort Magistrate Court soon,” said Constable Xazi.
