Pimville’s Michael Maponya Clinic Committee on why they were awarded the best Clinic Committee

The committee is made up of a combination of community representatives and health professionals.

Pimville’s Michael Maponya Clinic Committee is evidently a hard working one as they were awarded the best Clinic Committee in 2017 for Johannesburg SUB District D.

Generally, Clinic committees are health governance structures, created to provide an avenue for communities to give input and feedback into the planning, delivery and organisation of health services and play an oversight role in the development and implementation of health policies and provision of equitable health services, but the Michael Maponya Clinic’s team does more than just that.

According to one member of the committee, Grace Thotobolo, the team has been working tirelessly to meet the community’s health needs.

“Working with people requires more than just working, you also need to build a good relationship with the community as well as the nurses at the clinic. I think our clinic committee received this award because we delivered, we were always up to date and making sure that the community is happy with the service they receive at the clinic. Being recognised motivates us a lot,” said Thotobolo.

The committee is made up of a combination of community representatives and health professionals that allow community concerns to be heard and addressed.

“Although there are still more challenges we need to overcome, we are trying our best to keep the clinic running smoothly with patients happy with the service at the same time making sure that no one’s rights is being violated.

“We always urge our patients to come forward with any problems they might have encountered in the clinic and we try by all means to make sure that patients don’t leave the clinic premises before that particular problem is solved,” She added.

“So far, I think there has been a positive improvement in the clinic and we hope the community works hand-in-hand with staff to solve other underlying issues,” she concludes.
