Jabulani police advocate for a drug free society

Spreading the message on drugs

Continuing on their journey to create a drug free society, the police from Jabulani embarked on yet another campaign in their policing area.

Addressing one of the most drug ridden areas in the area, the police were targeting Jabulani Hostel, which is notoriously known for the drug trade that takes place in the area.

The visit by the police was that of enlightenment as their aim of visiting the place was to educate residents through an awareness campaign.

“We are aware that there are many places that sell drugs in the community and the fight we are fighting needs to be tackled from both ends.

“It’s one thing to try and deal with drug dealers as a means of making sure that there are no drugs sold in the community, but the problem may still continue if we do not address users.

“Thus our campaign is aimed at preventing the increase in the number of new drug users and we are doing this by making them aware of the effects of drugs so that if a person does not use drugs, then they are well informed not to start using them because at the end of the day, being a drug user is allowing yourself to fall into a trap,” said Phindile Mavuso communication form Jabulani Police Station.

The police were joined by the Youth Desk of Jabulani SAPS as well as the Community Policing Forum for Sector Two and Sector Three to host the campaign.
