Murder case of the woman gunned down in Mofolo by live-in partner adjourned

The court case will continue in April.

This year on May 30, it will mark one year since Nomsa Mbuyisa was brutally murdered by her ex-lover.
Mbuyisa was killed in front of their 20-year-old son as she was about to board a taxi in Mofolo on May 30 2018.

Her family stated that she was abused by her ex-boyfriend for 23 years they had lived together.

On March 7, the suspect who is accused of killing Mbuyisa appeared at High Court in Johannesburg.
The matter has been adjourned to April 29. The perpetrator wants to change his plea bargain. Last year he pleaded not guilty and now he wants to plead guilty.

As soon as the Magistrate adjourned the case, the suspect left the courtroom without looking at the packed public gallery.

He is facing charges of murder, two attempted murder, unlawfully firearm, and unlawfully ammunition.
Founder of Women of Strength One Voice, Dieketseng Modiba said after all the trauma that he has put the family to go through last year now he wants to plead guilty.

“We want a life sentence for this guy. We just lost our mother (Nomsa’s mother) through this pain of Nomsa being dead. We want the case to end and we don’t want to lose Nomsa’s children because of this trauma.

Lindiwe Mazibuko said, “It is upsetting honestly because he was just wasting everyone’s time, I mean why would you plead not guilty when you know very well what you have done. It just goes to show how selfish and inconsiderate this guy is.

She stated that the suspect wants to plead guilty because he wants to get a lighter sentence. “He is only doing this to save himself by getting a lighter sentence. One that he doesn’t deserve as this was premeditated, he did all this knowing very well of the consequences and I guess he wants this lighter sentence so he can come back and finish all of us.”

Mazibuko concluded that she prays that the court doesn’t grant him a lighter sentence and she hopes that the perpetrator will rot in hell.

He will still remain in custody.
