Three drug busts within the area of Riverlea

More drug busts by Langlaagte saps

Since the beginning of the year, we have reported at least three drug busts within the area of Riverlea. Following a report by Constable Phumi Kraai, who is the communications officer for Langlaagte police station, another two men aged 25 and 32 were arrested on March 7 from the Riverlea area in two different arrests for dealing in drugs.

Kraai explained that the first drug bust happened during a crime intelligence driven joint operation where Langlaagte police crime prevention members searched outside of a building at a house in Riverlea extension, where fourteen (14) medium and twenty-seven (27) small ziplock bags containing Methamphetamine also known as crystal meth and cash to the sum of R240-60 was found.

According to the communications officer, the estimated value of the drugs was about R1750-60.



“In the second drug bust, the team proceeded to Zamimpilo informal settlement where a shack was searched and a hundred and twenty-five (125) whole mandrax tablets and eight pokes of marijuana was found and cash to the sum of R112-70 believed to proceeds from dealing in drugs and marijuana.

The estimated value is -+ R3942-70,” said Kraai.

At the time of the report, the suspects were detained at Langlaagte police station and were said to be appearing in court soon.
