Diepkloof police alarmed by armed robberies from unknown cars

The police are looking for the Silver Gray Hyundai Sonata which had no registration number

A couple opened yet another case of armed robbery at the Diepkloof SAPS after a Silver Gray Hyundai Sonata occupied with four men went and robbed them at gunpoint while they were seated in a car just in front of their home.

The trend of people in motor vehicles committing armed robbery seems to be spreading within the community of Diepkloof and the police are adamant that the perpetrators need to be brought to justice.

The spokesperson for Diepkloof SAPS, Captain Phephi Matlou-Mteto said, “We are aware of the growing tendency from unknown cars going around robbing unsuspecting people especially with firearms.

“We are doing all that we can to bring in these perpetrators and to make our community safer and friendlier.”

It is alleged that while the couple from Diepkloof were parked outside their yard in their Toyota Corolla, a Silver Gray Hyundai Sonata went and parked just next to them with four men who were all armed.

The two men allegedly got out their car to point firearms towards the couple who was ordered to not move or leave the car while the two other men searched their car thoroughly taking their phones and wallets before stripping the car from some of its parts.

Matlou-Mteto said, “This incident took place at around 11 pm and no casualties were reported.”
The Silver Gray car then drove away while the scared couple looked on.

The police are looking for the Silver Gray Hyundai Sonata which had no registration number and any person who may have any information that could lead the police in finding the armed occupants can call 079 890 7087.
