The pulsating beat and poetic words of rap and hip-hop prove to be life for the 19-year-old Zacharia Park rap artist, Nyiko ‘Nicco’ Mhlanga who initially started rapping as a hobby in 2014.
“It started as a hobby back in high school, then 2018 I started enjoying and realised that I am actually talented so I decided to make it a career,” said Nicco.
However, he also believes that academics are as important hence he is currently studying towards a Degree in Bcom Accounting doing his 3rd year.
His most essential release is his debut EP “Phases” which he says is set to take us through his experiences, it involves a lot of creativity and storytelling and is set to throw the rap community into a frenzy through sheer positivity.
Asked about his inspiration, Nicco said that every rap artist inspires him differently but his main inspirations would be J Cole and Drake and locally, he looks up to AKA.
From his current EP, ‘Phases’ he said that his favourite track is, ‘Results’, which he says tells a story about heartbreak. His music is available on Sound Cloud.
