A century of life on earth for two White City gogos
100 and 102 years and counting
The African National Congress, Ward 37 Langa Libalele Branch hosted a 100 and 102-year birthday celebration for gogo’s Marha Majohane Mlotshwo and Sanna Dimakatso Leepo in White City.
Being a delayed celebration, One of the gogo turned 102 last year but the Langa Libalele Branch decided to surprise them.
The two elderly people have lived a long and fruitful life. Both gogo’s had an emotional day and they were given gifts as a token of appreciation.
Ward Councilor Zodwa Nxumalo said through the door to door campaign they managed to discover the two grannies and they decided as a branch to organise a surprise for them.
She mentioned that she grew up without knowing her mother but knew her mother through photos. “When I look at the two ladies, I believe that my mother is still alive.
I’m grateful to God for making me to meet these two people. Our aim was to recognise and appreciate them while they are still alive.

Nxumalo extended her gratitude towards everyone who made the birthday party possible. “I’m grateful to each and every individual who contributed and supported us to make the celebration successful.”
Nompumelelo Mazibuko said, “We are proud to be honouring you and today we are celebrating your youth. Thank you so much for always being there for us.”
