Prince Etornam Attipoe from Ghana visits Riverlea

Prince of Ghana warmly welcomed in Riverlea

Prince Etornam Attipoe from Ghana who belongs to the Anlo Kingdom, one of the largest coastal tribes in Ghana – visited the girls from the Women and Girls Empowerment Programme in Riverlea on March 6. The programme is the brainchild of dancer Joy Ragebult.

The Prince is a successful entrepreneur, public relations expert and international speaker and has been a friend of Ragebult for many years.

This friendship has now grown into a partnership in the programme offered by Ragebult to the women and girls of the community of Riverlea.

The girls were excited to be in the presence of a prince.

“Joy is a good friend of mine and she is extremely passionate about this programme; her passion is so infectious that she got me excited about you young ladies. I’m very excited to be here.

“The reason for me being here is to tell you how proud I am of each one of you girls, I know you all have great stories and the end of your stories is more beautiful than what it is now. The end of your story is what defines you as a woman,” he said.

“Every business deal that I have done in my life has been with people I know – so the person right beside you could be your business partner, your boss, or someone that will work with you, and if you are wise you will create strong relationships with the people you are around.

“The relationships you are building today – are the foundation for your future, this is not just a place where you come to dance and make noise, this is a place where social cohesion is practised, it’s a place to build your fabric of life.

I personally believe that dance is man’s greatest gifts because you gain confidence, you build relationships through it,” said the Prince to the girls.

He then went on to add that for a long time, he could not speak in front of people.
“I looked for a solution to my shyness and then I heard about going to a dance studio, I went for three months and now I am speaking to thousands of people,” he said.

After the Prince addressed the girls, the girls had a question and answer session with him. After all of the conversations, Ragebult shared that she started in the very same room at the age of five with her dance instructor at the time, Edwina Fillies.

Ragebult said that she knows the power of dance.
“The lesson of the day was to align yourself with the correct people in life, work hard, study hard and love yourself as well as others, and importantly put God first,” she said.

The Prince donated spray, sanitary pads, and water bottles to the girls on the day and in their next class, the girls will be receiving sneakers which he bought for them to dance in.

“This is one of many visits when I’m in the country, I’ll be here sometimes dancing with you girls,” said Prince Etornam Attipoe.
