Alleged drug syndicate arrested at Bramfischerville

According to Dobsonville Police Spokesperson Constable Mzwakhe Xazi, the multi-disciplinary team searched the house and found a clandestine laboratory suspected of being used to produce mandrax.

Drugs have been over the years responsible for breaking the families, contributes to crime escalation in communities, robing the countries youth future and destroys the lives of the very same drug addicts.

It is because of such harsh realities that the police together with Hawks, South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (SANEB), Crime Intelligence Counter Narcotics and Gauteng K9 joined forces to arrest four suspects aged between 35-58 at Braamfischerville in the early hours last Monday morning.

According to Dobsonville Police Spokesperson Constable Mzwakhe Xazi, the multi-disciplinary team searched the house and found a clandestine laboratory suspected of being used to produce mandrax.

“The drug lab was allegedly in operation when the team swooped, seized a large amount of mandrax tablets, other chemicals and equipment.

“All the four suspects were arrested on the property and the entire haul is expected to be running into millions of rands.

“The correct figure will be released at a later stage,” said Constable Xazi.

The Hawks National Head Lieutenant General Godfrey Lebeya has applauded the team for a job well done in their tireless effort to fight illegal drugs.

He praised the police for their contentious dedication in dismantling of illicit drug manufacturing laboratories in the country.

“Illicit drugs pose a danger to the public.

“Police burst has prevented kilograms of drugs worth millions of rands that would have hit the streets.

“Anyone with the information about the manufacturing of illicit drugs should report to the authority,” said Lieutenant General Lebeya.
