Notorious gangster Fransisco Miller sentenced

Notorious gangster Fransisco Miller sentenced,

Westbury residents who stood up against drug dealers in the community all these years – can now, at least, breath a sigh of relief.

After the late Heather Petersen was caught in crossfire last September, the Tactical Response Team (TRT) or else known as ‘Amaberethe’ had been deployed into the area by the Minister of Police, Bheki Cele.

Since then, there has been a number of arrests made by TRT working with the Sophiatown police. Especially with drug-related cases involving gangs in the community.

However, on Monday, February 25, there was sentencing at the South Gauteng High Court of a 28-year-old notorious gangster, Fransisco Miller which has been ongoing since 2017.

According to a report from the MEC for Community Safety, Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane, Miller was convicted of three counts of murder and other gang-related offences within the Sophiatown policing precinct.

The report from the MEC states that Miller was arrested in April 2017 while there was an intelligence-led operation in Els River, Cape Town following an incident where three armed suspects with R5 rifles and handguns invaded Dorothea Flats in Newclare and terrorised the residents of the community.

Miller pleaded guilty on three counts of murder for which he was handed a 30-year sentence per murder, attempted murder with eight years, robbery aggravated with fifteen years, another fifteen years for possession of unlicensed firearms and four years for possession of ammunition.

“I am delighted with the lengthy sentence imposed on this notorious gangster whose reign of terror instilled fear in our communities. I would also like to commend the diligent work conducted by police in ensuring that they put a water-tight case against these callous criminals.”

“Criminals like Miller are a danger to society and they must be locked in jail for a very long time. I hope Miller’s sentencing will send a strong message to criminals out there that the criminal justice system will not hesitate to act harshly against anyone found guilty of such atrocious crimes,” said MEC Nkosi-Malobane.
