Diepkloof house remodeled after being burned by one of the family member

SANCO helps the family pick up the pieces.

The family house that was burnt down by one of the family members in Diepkloof Zone Four to spite the family is finally being renovated and fixed.

The renovations began just weeks after the family was left devastated and without a roof on top of their heads because one of the family members got so enraged when she was refused money – reason being that the money was for the children and their essentials.

The South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO) stepped in to help the family whose children have been affected by the tragedy the most.

SANCO chairperson and convener for Zone 10, Godfrey Tshehlo explained that this was the second time in Diepkloof that an incident of this nature took place.

Tshehlo said, “We should work together as a community to fight the drug demon and its pandemic. We wish to stress that this should not happen again and we hope that the people will help us.”

Rebecca Zwane from the family did express her disappointment about the whole situation and said that she is relieved that at least there are some people in society who are willing to offer a helping hand.

Zwane said, “I am very happy and grateful for what SANCO is doing for my family.”

Maria Motale, a resident from the community who took her time out to go and assist the family said, she wishes that senior citizens could always speak out if and when any of their children have a problem, whether drug-related or not, so that they can all come together and shout as one for help.

Motale said, “We want to help our children, but we cannot help them if we keep quiet.”
SANCO will take approximately five days to renovate the house.
