Reigniting the family bond

The church aims to have an authentic worship experience, to father the fatherless, to ensure that people put their families first and to empower people through leadership development programmes.

The Ignite Family Church was founded with the purpose of reaching out to children and was first known as Ignite Ministries before undergoing a name change in September 2018.

Associate pastor at the church, Ashley Sauls I, said, “It is important that our church becomes relevant within the community and one of the key challenges within our community is the absence of fathers in many homes, coupled with broken families.”

According to Sauls, the church’s main focus is family and the biggest challenge in the community is family structure which is when the church realised that its function should be based on family, which is the reason the name was changed to the Ignite Family Church.

The associate pastor said that the church understands that there is a traditional family structure and it focuses on showing people that family is family regardless of present or absent family members. He added that the church aims to revive the understanding that family is family even with only one present parent.

“We want to strengthen that bond of families so they can become strong and healthy, irrespective of their family structure,” he said.

The slogan of the church is ‘Where everyone’s a VIP and every child is a VVIP’. This means that everyone is the church is equally important and that children are more important.

Sauls continued, “We have acquired a facility where we will take young people and mentor them about developing leadership skills within themselves.”

“Our mission is to create an atmosphere where people can experience God and our purpose is to ignite a love for God, self and others.”

Through their ‘Ignite Cares’ programme, the church funded a project where they cut the grass of every resident living within the church’s street. This undertaking was initiated to keepi Kiaat Street clean.

They also host also an Ignite Care Drive where congregants bring gifts, food, clothing and other necessities which are donated to the needy in the community.

“This happens every first Sunday of each month and is known as the first fruits Sunday. There are exciting things ahead for our community,” he concluded.
