Naledi residents demand 0% tariff increase over the next three years

Residents are demanding that their past debts be scraped off.

Naledi residents are upset with higher structures because they feel that they have been overlooked by them.
This came after the community found out rumours that their demarcation as they know it has been changed under Eskom books.

According to information they have received, the Naledi Extension community no longer falls under Naledi but has now been changed to fall under the Mapetla community.

This information came about when the community wanted to take action against Eskom on the matters that were affecting their daily lives.

The main issue they raised was the fact that electricity supply has not been consistent and residents are struggling to pay for electricity despite Eskom wanting to hike prices.

“A recent march had been led to Jabulani Theatre where people were expressing their dissatisfaction with the proposed price increases and we are joining them in that struggle.

“We want Eskom to know that we are not going to pay an increased fee on top of the already ridiculous prices they are charging.

“They say they want a 15% increase, we are saying they will never see that in our lifetime. We want a 0% increase,” said protesting residents from Naledi.

In addition to demanding for a 0% increase, residents are demanding that their past debts be scraped off and all residents start off on a clean slate to pay a standard tariff rate.
