‘This is YOUR youth desk!’

The youth crime prevention desk is calling on all youngsters to join or make use of the organisation.

The youth crime prevention desk is calling on all youngsters to join or make use of the organisation. The chairperson, Prince Nhleko, said that most youngsters are not aware that there is a place of hope for them.

He said, “The sole purpose of the youth desk is to bridge the gap between the police and the community by initiating crime prevention programmes.”

“We want to make a difference in the lives of the young people in our community. One of the important lessons we want to teach the youth is to make responsible decisions. Imagine how great our community will be if we all worked together in crime preventing?” he asked.

The youth desk is in the process of organising events for every month of the year.

The secretary Feroza Banda said, “The month of February is Safety Month and we want to embark on campaigns that highlight safety. We plan to visit the secondary schools in our community so we can interact with the learners and encourage safety.”

“We are calling on all youngsters who have the ability to speak in front of a big crowd. We need motivational speakers who will assist us in getting our message across to the community.”

The youth desk is open to the public every weekday from 8.30am to 15.30pm.

“We encourage all youngsters who are idle to join us, If you are feeling lost or lonely, we are here to assist and motivate one another,” said Nhleko.
