Orlando woman talks about life after horrific stabbing

But she lives happily ever after.

She is amongst a thousand women who suffered in the hands of men, her husband thought it was over for her but little did he know that he was building a strong character in her.

Abuse is not something that began in this century but has always been there and victims were just afraid to speak about it because they felt it was love and a loving man will use power to prove love which was never
true.

Dipuo May was stabbed 27 times by a man who was supposed to love and protect her. Instead of giving her sweet memories he gave her deep knife wounds, pain and trauma. People died and suffered in the name of love.

Scars.

After all, how can one make the love of his or her life suffer and hide behind the three words “I Love You”?
She said when they got married the man was so loving but everything changed when she fell pregnant.

The husband became violent until she gave birth before time. May said she was willing to leave the man but social workers insisted she stayed and try and make things work.

History kept on repeating itself even after she had agreed to try and make things work. She alluded that she saw that things were not getting better and thought maybe finding a job will make things better for her
but it became worse.

Scars.

The couple reached a point where May decided to move out and have a fresh start but the culprit could not stay away from her and used children as a weapon to end her life.

She recalled the exact day where the husband came to the house where she was renting and said he was there to bring maintenance money and to see the children.

“I refused to open the door and told him to give me through the window but he refused. I opened the door and that is where he stabbed me in the back 27 times and tried to cut my neck. I kept quiet as a laid in the pool of blood, I pretended to be dead for him not to finish me off,” explained May.

Dipuo May.

She said she remembers very well what happened that day and said before he fled the scene he kicked
her and told her that no-one will come to her rescue because he was not seen entering the premises.

Because may couldn’t speak before things got out of hand she decided to form an organisation for women who are victims of abuse to speak out and named it Dipuo Di fedile.

“It was going to be a platform to help victims speak out because I was unable to speak up until I survived death,” said May.

May said she found comfort in and healing through community safety where she is currently an ambassador.

It’s true when they say another man’s trash is another man’s treasure because after all the trouble and tribulation she has been through she was able to find love again.

Currently, she is part of community social development and helps both males and females deal with abuse and always encourages girls not to depend on a man and do away with the norm that man are providers.
