SADTU Shutdown: Learners are being turned away from school in Eldos

So far, it has been confirmed that learners at Kliptown Primary and Kliptown Secondary have been turned away from school.

Some schools in Eldorado Park are sending learners back home and have asked parents to use their own discretion in sending their children to school.

According to Desmond Luvhengo, a former teacher at Klipspruit West Secondary School, a number of schools in Eldorado Park, Ennerdale and Pimville are being shut down by withdrawing teachers from the schools as of today because of allegations of racism in Eldorado Park schools.

“We want those seven teachers back at the Eldorado Park Secondary School,” he said in a statement.

Parents are concerned that this act is not in the best interest of their children. Andrea Van Wyk, a parent, said that this is a concern because children are now walking around aimlessly when they are supposed to be learning at school.

“Disrupting our children’s school time is never okay. They are missing out on work and will be so stressed because they will be expected to catch up on work they have missed,” she said.

So far it has been confirmed that Kliptown primary and secondary schools have released their learners.
