Q-Mark finds pleasure in music-making

"Music composing is life to those who love music wholeheartedly. It is a simplified way of communicating and healing," Q-Mark.

Some of Protea Glen’s musicians and producers have the potential of being among the best in the country. Music producers play a vital role in the music industry, they are needed to compose and produce good quality music for the people.

Hence, it is very important for young people to do a thorough self-introspection and find out what their talent is and begin to use it.

Thabelo Madiba age 26, a Protea Glen residence, known as Q-Mark is an upcoming music producer and event coordinator. During the course of music production, Q-Mark has worked with Tso-Smith, Awkward music and User boys from Durban.

“During the course of these events, I learned that one needs to be self-driven, disciplined, persistent and must have self-belief, believe in what you do before anyone else does. The music industry is not for faint-hearted people,” he said.

Q-Mark discovered his passion for music production in early 2000 when he was still a young boy residing in a village called Tshakhuma in Venda, Limpopo. “Music producing is my life, I live it and I dream it, I find pleasure in music producing,” said Q-Mark.

“When I was still a young boy, I would look at my grandfather composing music and I admired the old man. He was a great music composer and his dedication led to him winning an award of best radio composer at the SABC in the year 2002.”

Q-Mark uses his event coordinating skills in a way that helps grow the community. Last month, he launched a family charity festival which took place at GOG Lifestyle Park and was a success.

The reason behind all this is to raise funds that will be used to give back to the community by means of donating school uniform to the less disadvantaged children.

An event whereby all upcoming artists will be given a chance to perform is to be held during the course of the year and winners will get a chance to get their music produced and exposed to the industry. Q-Mark said this is a calling for him to better the lives of other young people in the area.
