Building the nation, brick by brick

According to Ismail, the students will be given the opportunity to get permanent employment by the Motheo Construction Company.

Seventeen students from Motheo Construction Company successfully graduated in construction on December 2. The construction company employed twenty local unemployment youth and enrolled them into built environment programmes.

The programmes had an aim for the students to develop incubating-built environment skills, and for them to experience and gain the ability to adapt to the requirements of the business environment. The initial project started in 2017 at the Westbury Transformation Development Centre (TDC).

The students, along with management from the construction company were joined by leaders from the Westbury community who were instrumental in making sure youngsters from the community are given a fair chance on construction taking place within our communities.

The graduates ready to take on the world.

Lesley Fortuin and Shahiem Ismail congratulated the construction company and encouraged the students to go and make their families proud and to encourage other youngsters to take these types of opportunities to skill themselves. The graduation took place at the newly reconstructed TDC premises.

“Leaders must really put our youngsters first and not themselves and stop taking opportunities which belong to the children, we will lead by example,” said Ismail.

Students and parents were overwhelmed by their commitment to complete their course. According to Ismail, the students will be given the opportunity to get permanent employment by the Motheo Construction Company.
