‘We want learners to stay away from drugs’

Ensuring school safety.

As schools nationally re-opened to mark the beginning of the academic year, local schools had the privilege of being accompanied by local law enforcement officials.

With the aim of trying to add an element of safety to pupils, the safety team from Jabulani Police Station visited Bhukulani Secondary and Letare Secondary School to kick off their yearly safety campaign.

At both schools, the aim of their visits was to make sure that the first day of school was a success and all systems had run smoothly and also to continue spreading their message against drugs.

“We as the Jabulani SAPS feel that there is no perfect time to create awareness and thus took the perfect opportunity of schools re-opening so that we can spread our message.

“Our message last week was simple, we want learners to stay free from drugs. As it was the first day of school, we expect that they have been behaving well during the holidays and have come to school on a clean mind that has not consumed any substances and we expect them to show even better behaviour as the school year continues,” said Jabulani Police Station Communication, spokesperson Phindile Mavuso.

The team would also like to spread the message of anti-drug abuse to the rest of the community by emphasising that there is help for those who find themselves wanting to break free from drug abuse, the police have channels to help those battling with substance abuse.
