‘I am music, I live music, music is my drug’

'Music is my addiction'

Giving up on your dreams is not an option, even if it takes decades and patience is the key to getting to where you want to be in any field.

Sfiso Khoza (24) also known as Swas Lego, is an artist and a beat maker from Freedom Park who met his producer, Tlhaloso Maradiro (22) widely known as T-KID, in 2010.

The pair started recording their music through the phone and had no idea what a studio looked like, but they enjoyed it because they were doing what they loved.

Maradiro said, “We used to listen to a lot of music and played around recording ourselves on a cell phone. Later we moved on to recording with a laptop mic.”

He recalled that in 2011, they met G Max who was a producer at the time and started working with him in his studio. That is when they began taking music more seriously. The duo parted ways with G MaxAfter and started working on their own.

According to Swas Lego, he released a mixtape last year titled ‘A lot to say’ to get exposure and the musical partners are now working on new music which they believe is their best work to date. Their latest offering will be released at a date to be announced over the next few months.

Khosa is a music producer, composer, mixing engineer, live engineer, film sound operator as well as a song writer.

He said, “I have a beat tape that’s out. I mostly work with mainstream artists so I don’t have my own music that’s out, it’s just the beat tape and the songs I did for mainstream artists, corporate companies and media companies.”

“People can expect a lot of features from me, I have songs with familiar names coming out including TV adverts,” he added.

Khoza said that being an artist is not easy, it requires a lot of time and hard as well as focus. “I am music, I live music, music is my drug,” he said.
