Bogus job schemes devastates Mkhize

The journey began early on in January when a friend shared a post with him about employment and he followed it up.

On an annual basis, many people symbolise the month of January as the month that affords them a fresh start, but such was not the case for Kabelo Mkhize this 2019.

After spending some months of desperation and trying different avenues to find a job, Kabelo Mkhize found out the hard way that his efforts resulted in him being a victim of a scam.

This comes at a time when he was anticipating to make a fresh start and take advantage of the month of January being the month when most people are job hunting, but his journey ended in disappointment. The journey began early on in January when a friend shared a post with him about employment and he followed it up.

Mkhize shows the fax number he was using.

Along the journey of following up the post he saw on social media, he was requested to send in his curriculum vita along with supporting documents. After some time having done that, he received a request for an interview that was to take place in a different province.

“I’m from the alleged interview and I came back on Monday. The part that angers me the most is that I even borrowed money that I don’t have just so I can be able to go to the interview, only to find out that the interview doesn’t even exist.

“When I got to the mines in Rusternburg, I went to the prescribed venue before time so that I don’t come across any trouble in getting to my interview.

“When I got to the gates, the security guard told me that there were no interviews at the venue I was asking about and that the position I had applied for wasn’t even advertised.

“I was in disbelieved because I had travelled all the way from Joburg – so I wanted to make sure that what I was told was true and I found out that indeed I had been scammed. While I was at the venue, I called the contact person who I’d been communicating with and my suspicion was aggravated when the guy I was speaking to told me to come meet him at the mall,” said Mkhize.

Mkhize says that since he has come back, his perspective in finding a job has changed and is more alert and careful than ever, despite the fact that he is still in the same position of being unemployed.
