WATCH: Kid Tini creates conversation around issues faced by youth

Kid Tini is using his music to tackle social issues.

Phiwe Tini famously known as ‘Kid Tini’ has recently dropped a single from his anticipated album that’s set to drop by March this year.

The single titled ‘Cinga’ touches on issues not often spoken about in our society while the visuals explore these issues in an educational and touching storyline. Kid Tini takes us through the journey and emotions that come with dealing with teenage pregnancy, unsafe abortions, prostitution and suicide.

“I pride myself in talking about social issues and ills and really talking about things that other people are not too comfortable speaking about.

That’s how I differentiate myself and that’s the lane I’m trying to carve and it’s not there so I have to create it,” said Kid Tini when asked how he sees himself fit into today’s hip hop landscape.

The Ambitiouz Entertainment rapper is set to drop an album this year which promises to be one of the hottest this year. He will feature some of the country’s biggest artists currently and a few stablemates such as Emtee, LaSauce, Stogie T, Londie London, Maraza, Ginger Trill and a few more.

Kid Tini lists his inspirations as some of his favourite rappers such as Kendrick Lamar, Drake, J Cole, and Ginger Trill and the stories he comes across in real life in the South African township.

“I want to tell stories that people go through in real life and that’s what ‘cinga’ is so while I’m heavily influenced by rappers in the States I stay true to my roots,” he elaborated.

When asked about beefing in rap Kid Tini said he currently isn’t beefing with anyone despite his well-publicized beef with former Ambitiouz signed rapper A-reece last year.

“I feel like beef is important for the culture but not all of us can do it, not all of us have that ability,” he said.

The young rapper says he hopes that in future his sound grows and wants to see himself making the kind of music he wants to make, where he can make the conscious type of music and still be able to reach audiences in today’s hip hop landscape.
