Lamula still maintained their pass rate

Keeping it steady wins the race.

Lamula Jubilee Secondary School in Meadowlands East, Zone 5 has earned a reputation over the years for consistency and this year was no different as they maintained a 92% pass rate. According to the principal Mahosi Mukwena, the great results are due to the working relationship between the principal, educators and learners.

He said, “We usually share ideas when we have meetings during which we listen to our teachers while making sure that we show our children support from Grades 8 until -12.”

“Parental involvement is still a challenge in our schools because we had to conduct meetings at their homes since a few parents were unable to follow up on their children’s progress.”

Zwivhuya Rammbuela topped the class of 2018 after obtaining seven distinctions in all seven subjects which proves that the school is capable of producing distinctions.

Mukwena added, “In order for us as a school to produce more distinctions or obtain 100% pass rate, we need to start from Grade 8 and also get more parents on board so that there is support for the learners at their homes. I believe that by doing this, the children will take their studies seriously.”

According to Mukwena, it has been his experience that teachers and pupils have enough resources to cater to their needs. That, plus the added support from stakeholders, parents and teachers has ensured that Ndofaya is kept in the limelight.

“I am proud to say the schools in Meadowlands have shone and improved, reaching more than 80% matric pass rate. This shows that if a concerted effort is made, all the schools can reach 100% pass rate,” he said.
