‘Don’t let exam anxiety to get you down’

Gauteng Education MEC, Panyaza Lesufi will tomorrow announce the individual results for the class of 2018 with Minister Angie Motshekga announcing the overall results. Matriculants and the Department of Basic Education will be looking to outweigh the previous pass rate for 2017 which was 75.1% overall.

The Independent Examinations Board announced that the class of 2018 achieved a 98.92% pass rate compared to 98.76% in 2017.

IEB is an independent assessment body offering a range of certified assessments, benchmarked assessments and training. It is accredited by Umalusi for school and adult assessments, the QCTO for the Foundational Learning Competence and the ETDP SETA for training courses in assessment practices.



DBE posted on Twitter today saying “We are grateful, not only for the teachers’ dedication but for the parents’ recognition of the importance of a school-parent-community partnership in ensuring the success of our learners”.

As most schools await the release of the results – Gauteng Department of Education had this to say on Facebook:

“You have probably done very well and you have passed the exams. And if things didn’t go according to plan, you have an opportunity to rewrite and improve your marks. Don’t despair. For now, stay positive. We are here to support you all the way. Good luck and best wishes!”
