Putting up a united front at Grade R graduation

Learners took part in numerous activities including performing the Zuok and Pasada dances for the audience and showcased their mathematics and reading skills before their official graduation.

The Young Voice Academy (YOVA) hosted the first joint graduation ceremony for local Early Child Development (ECD) centres in Dobsonville and Bramfischerville.

There were about 30 ECD graduates represented at the graduation ceremony which was held at Thabang Primary School.

The centres which took part in the joint graduation ceremony are; Thando Day Care Centre, Teddy Bear Day Care, Sana Lwami Day Care and the Joy@Work Day Care Centre.



According to the event organiser, Rapelang Semente, the event signaled that they are one step closer to building a cohesive and robust relationship between ECDs and primary schools.

Semente said, “We will remember this day by ensuring that transformation is being addressed continuously so that South African ECDs could continue to be successful in future education and development.

“We would like to express our sincere appreciation and admiration for those who believed in us and the support given to the initiative which will unite all ECDs and primary schools.”



Thando’s Day Care principal, Lillian Dlamini said they were excited about the initiative and She said this was the first event of its kind where they hosted a joint graduation celebration with other day care centres.

“We are definitely going to host similar initiative again next year. We will involve other day care centres next year and we are optimistic that it will grow bigger,” said Dlamini.
