Cops arrest 15 in connection with Global Citizen muggings

Minister of Police, Bheki Cele held a media briefing in Cape Town to provide details about police’s work at the Global Citizen festival over the weekend.
He initially began by offering words of sympathy to the people who suffered at the hands of criminals at the Nasrec Sasol garage. Cele said 50 cases have been reported and 15 suspects were arrested following their criminal acts.
Cele said, “We condemn criminal activities that happened at Sasol garage over the weekend. 260 police officers were deployed to the stadium precinct and eight security companies with plus or minus 2000 personnel on duty.
“Police operations lasted until 7am on Monday and they dispersed from the venue at 11am. Criminals will face full might of the law.”
