‘Bring back the balance, schedule a massage’

I was fearful at first, but the response from people has been overwhelming.

According to the Lanie family, massage therapy is a treatment that very few people take seriously.

Natasha Lanie, who is fondly known as Tasha, is the founder of Lanie’s Massage Parlour (LMP) in Eldorado Park Ext 1 said that massage therapy does wonders for the human mind and body and that everyone should give it a try at least once in their lifetime.

She said that before focusing on the parlour full-time, she worked in a stressful environment and always knew that she wasn’t where she needed and wanted to be.

She said, “Honestly, as a family, we never thought that we’d own our very own massage parlour. We used to massage our mother’s feet every night after she took a bath and that’s when we noticed that we were really good at massage therapy.

“Our relatives have always been so supportive and encouraged me to take this seriously. My cousins always visited and wanted me to massage their backs and necks. I knew at that moment that massage therapy might be my calling, so I decided to take the risk and follow my passion,” she said.

Tasha said that she used to massage clients from her bed until her recently deceased uncle recently bought her a massage table.

“He came up to me one day and said, ‘Here you go, do it properly, here’s a massage table, let’s get going’. He believed in me so much.

“A close friend encouraged me to create an ad and to post it on social media. I was fearful at first, but the response from people has been overwhelming,”she said.

Tasha currently offers various massage packages which include full body, back and neck, head and neck, hands and feet with soak and foot massages with a soak.

When asked about the goals she has for her massage parlour, she said, “I hope to renovate our family garage and turn it into a spacious massage therapy room.

“My sister, Fozia Chomey and I also plan to do various beauty courses next year so we can cater to a larger audience.

“Tasha also said that she hopes to teach her clients the importance of taking time out for themselves and that a pampering session is necessary to be physically and mentally healthy.

Tasha’s massage technique’s focuses on targeting tight muscles and relieving stress.
