Music opens door for Ntaopane

When people from the music industry hear the name Kevin Thabang Ntaopane also known as Kevin Riss, they smile as they know him as a humble musician, manager and a community builder.

When people from the music industry hear the name Kevin Thabang Ntaopane also known as Kevin Riss, they smile as they know him as a humble musician, manager and a community builder.

Ntaopane started his music career in 1994 when he was still in school, in a small township called Vrededort in Mokwallo location in Free State.

Ntaopane said he matriculated in 1996 and relocated back to Johannesburg to Eldorado Park South, he later moved to Freedom Park and focused on community building projects.

“In 1998, I facilitated my first computer skills and business administration initiative at E.W Hobbs Tswelopele Learning Centre in Freedom Park.



“The centre empowers the youth in that area and assists them to enhance their computer skills. That really makes me happy because I can make a difference in my community; music has enabled me to give back.

“In 2015, I initiated a reading programme called Rubberband Book Worm for early childhood development. It included a dyslexic programme for primary and secondary pupils and it improved a lot of children’s lives,” he said.

Ntaopane said in 1997 he was part of a group called 2KVT.

“We also started Kevin and Kingdom we performed and entered different competitions and in 1999 we entered a television competition which was called Gumba Fire.



“We ended up as the runner-ups at the competition, that move attracted a lot of promoters and record companies. Over the years we changed our name K Dynasty and in 2009, we worked on our very first album but we did not release it.

“During that time I started an initiative called Kwaito Legendary on the Move he managed to work with Kwaito Legends.

“I was coached by the great legends such as Mzwakhe Mbuli, Blondie Makhene. I ended up managing the late Mduduzi Tshabalala also known as Mduduzi Tshabalala throughout his musical career,” he said.

Ntaopane said he worked with the likes of Mshoza, Jakarumba, Simphiwe Bravisios, Royalty Blue Blood Vicky Vilakazi, Herve Champagne and upcoming Dj Sanza also known as Beat Oven.

Ntaopane has currently released a song called Mongwaneng he has featured Bravo and Big Robza the track has since been a club banger.
