Miss Soweto reigning queen to hand over her crown this December

The winner is set to walk with prizes worth over R1 million.

The end of the year signifies the end of a Miss Soweto journey for one young woman and the beginning of a new one for another. Miss Soweto 2018 will be crowned at Soweto Theatre on December 1.

The reigning queen from Emndeni in Soweto, Busisiwe Mmotla will be handing over her crown after a year of service to the community of Soweto. The top 20 finalists have gone through a training period which has prepared them for the big stage at the finale.

“We are looking forward to seeing all the finalists pulling all stops to become the next Miss Soweto. All the finalists have worked extremely hard to make it to the Top 20.



“We are extremely proud of the fact that all the ladies are learning valuable lessons through the rehearsals and coaching sessions that have been put in place to ensure that they are equipped with the confidence to walk on stage with a huge crowd cheering them on,” said Celebrity Chef Lucia Mthiyane.

The pageant will be judged by Grace Mantjiu who is the Beauty Editor for Bona Magazine, Zinhle Mthembu who is the Marketing Manager at Clinix Health Group and Lucia Mthiyane, celebrity chef, singer and actress. The finale is set to be headlined by Zakes Bantwini.

The winner is set to walk with prizes worth over R1 million. The historic pageant will be running for its 39th year and this year’s affair promises to bring even more excitement and fun.


Former queens of Soweto, Buhle Xulu, Busisiwe Mmotla and Nthabiseng Kgasi.
