The world is definitely this DJ’s oyster!

"I have performed at a number of occasions at different venues from Carnival City, the Spring Festival and I get a set at weddings just to sharpen my skills more."

Thamsanqa Mbezi is only 12 years old but when it comes to spinning the decks, he can do it like a grown person.

His talent was spotted by his teachers and schoolmates and whenever there were activities at school, he would volunteer to be the DJ for the occasion.

According to the youngster, he is not much into sports, but he enjoys spinning the decks and dancing from a young age.

Mbezi said, “I have been a dancer since the age of six years old and I haven’t stopped dancing, but I have acquired a new skill which does not stop me from pursuing my dreams.”

The Thembalethu Primary School, Zone 10 learner’s skills on the decks have been well received by audiences who are on their feet as he completes another set.

When asked who his mentor is, Mbezi said, “I was taught by Njabulo Twala who showed me how it is done since then I have never stopped and continued doing what I love.”

The school has given the young DJ an opportunity to do what he loves during their one-day school tournament.

Mbezi added, “I have performed at a number of occasions at different venues from Carnival City, the Spring Festival and I get a set at weddings just to sharpen my skills more.”

“My grandmother and father support what I am doing and they always discuss the importance of education and completing my studies with me.”

“My wish in life is to pursue my love for music. Now I play Gqom, amapiano and hip-hop. I am still an aspiring deejay but I also want to see myself sharing the stage with well-known South African DJs.”

“I look up to Twala as my mentor and he impacts me positively and the drive he has is unlimited. He always tells me that the world is my oyster and that I decide what I want to do.”

“My everyday prayer to God is that He guides me in everything I do, protect me from those who do not want me to succeed and to give me the strength so that I can live to see the days and make my granny and dad proud someday,” he concluded.
