Recognising GREATNESS in our students

Emseni Primary School celebrates hard working learners.

Emseni Primary School last week celebrated their hardest working pupils through their annual honorary ceremony that was held last week. Hosted with the purpose of motivating pupils to keep up with their good work, the ceremony that was held last Friday parents more than pupils expressing tears of joy.

As much as the sentiment is that learners are awarded for their hard work, it seems as though parents take pride in outstanding achievements more than children.

According to the school’s perspective, the ceremony is an honour for them as the best of their work is at display, but at the same time, this serves as a tool to motivate other learners to do better in the next year.

“Our strive since the beginning of the year has been to unleash talent while at the same time trying to strike a balance between exposing academic and extra curricula excellence, so hosting these awards are a sign that we are not too far from our goal,” said Nqobile Nxumalo, the principal of the school.

Nqobile Mgwenya is one of the Grade 2 overall winners and he says that the award is a proud reflection of the efforts he has been putting in during the year.

“I enjoy being at school and I think that’s one of the things that have helped me succeed because when I’m at school, I am naturally curious and want to know more so in most cases I enjoy learning,” said Mgwenya.

Coming out top among Grade R learners was Sphesihle Nkosi and his mother Zanele Nkosi said that it takes collaborative effort for a child to make it at school.

“I’ve always been participative in my child’s school life and work by playing with him and going through some of the things they do at school with him, and I’m happy that today I can see the results of it.

“I encourage parents to encourage their children to read as much as they can,” said Zanele Nkosi, the mother of Sphesihle Nkosi.
