Watch out for Meadowlands rapper ‘Fresh Kid’
'Music is my heartbeat'.
Oratilwe ‘Fresh Kid’ Legoale hails from Meadowlands, Zone 1 and is a young, up-and-coming artist who has featured on a number of local artists’ recordings to get exposure and do what he loves, which is music.
Legoale’s love for music started when he was 10 years old when he started composing his own tracks, while influenced by hip-hop music. The first song he composed was a track titled ’44’ which saw him
rapping to the lyrics while he was watching a movie.
This was when his brother encouraged him to try it out and that is how he started pursuing music.
He said, “I have been working on my Extended play (EP) for some time and I have recorded so many single tracks which a few have been released on my social media pages.”
“I have worked with Ajay, Gift by beats, BabalonMG and Ajay was my producer and helped me with recording my tracks.”
He described himself as a humble person who enjoys perfecting his craft and surrounding himself with people who enjoy laughter. His latest single titled ‘Supposed to’ is a song he composed while
experiencing heartbreak.
“I did not know much then, but I had to teach myself from listening to more music and improving my writing skills which have improved,” he said.
“The industry is not that easy but one needs to always push by doing shows, supporting other artists,
attend events, network with other people and sell yourself.”
“Ever since I embarked on this journey I have done 10 shows and there is more in store,” he added.
Legoale said he prefers expressing his emotions through writing because the pen and paper understand his emotions.
He said, “I did a couple of interviews with different radio stations from Tshwane FM, Cut FM, and more marketing and shooting of music videos.
