LISTEN: Entrepreneur aims to reach the summit

"I was liberated to take to my passion of transforming spaces of social entrepreneurship and women empowerment."

Community leader and entrepreneur, Sibongile Mongadi is a founder of a startup company named Uku’hamba (Pty)(Ltd).

The company is a 100% black youth women-owned core business and is a biotechnology and healthcare manufacturing.

She is also a founder of an initiative called Soweto Young Women Empowerment initiative that shapes young women to be leaders in different spheres and a volunteer at FBA (Faculty of best advisory) and a chief marketing officer at Club Readership publishing company which seeks to celebrate African stories and runs monthly book club.

In her achievements, Mongadi became the Startup Bootcamp Cape Town 2018 Finalist, Startup Mela 2018 Alumni Transnet Finalist and qualified for the semi-finals at Ekasi Township Entrepreneur Summit.

She became third place at the Social Innovation Summit, South Africa Innovation Summit HSRC Finalist and became Top 25 Emerging Social Innovators across Africa and top Top 100 in Young Innovators in the SADC region.

“My journey in leadership started with a role within my society and community, through which I fostered the skills that have enabled me to lead bigger organisations.



“I was liberated to take to my passion of transforming spaces of social entrepreneurship and women empowerment.

“Being selected as one of the top 10 Young African Entrepreneurial Minds to travel to India and represent South Africa at Start-up Safari is a great honour and a delegation that seeks to bring about dialogue for solutions between aspiring entrepreneurs and vibrant leaders on how to spearhead change in areas and create a global entrepreneurial movement growth through global exposure,” said Mongadi.

She is also in a mission to open a library in Eastern Cape and she is grateful to Phiri Library which donated 100 books in her book drive campaign.
