If the Noordgesig Primary School project’s rapid progress is anything to go by, one can already tell by how the school will look like from the outside.
So far they have employed six Small Medium Micro Enterprises (SMME) but one is currently not on site. Community members have been benefiting and still going to benefit.
The Chief Leasing Officer Raven Martin said it’s said that some of the locals did not spend a lot of time in the site because the of the scope of work and it was hard for them to understand.

“We managed to explain and calm them down with the help of the Ward Councillor,” he said.
He said the only challenge they had was processing SMME payments but they managed to solve the problem. Martin said as the CLO it is his duty to ensure that people’s salaries are paid on time.
Raven said community members are happy with the progress but they always inquire about the size of the sports grounds and said they will be able to answer that as soon as the architect tell them.
“Like each and every community project they too experience community politics where they’re people who always complain about certain things,” said Martin.

He said they always ensure that they empower a lot of people on the project and try by all means to unite people. Every fourth night they host soccer games where the employers and employees play up against each other.
He said he hopes the history they’re making will be captured for the future generation to see it. Martin assured the community that the project will leave skills in the community and most will benefit, although he knows that not all the CV’s submitted will be accommodated.
He extended his gratitude to the main contractor Yikusasa for lending a helping hand by donating building materials to help rebuild houses that have been burnt. They are currently working on roofing.
